[clean-list] using the IDE to experiment with types ("string" versus 'string' versus ['string']

Is there some way to open a shell to a Clean interpreter via the IDE and 
type an expression and have Clean respond with the type?

The reason I ask is that p.68 in the manual says that ['abc'] is 
equivalent to the list of characters ['a', 'b', 'c'] but I was thinking 
that the square brackets wouldnt be needed for that equivalence.

I.e., 'abc' is the same as ['a', 'b', 'c']
