A few days ago, I asked for a method of changing the EditControl font size. As I told you, the very small default font size is not easy to read, specially for older people.
The other question has to do with the value of world. I am taking the required course of Functional Programming, where I am learning Clean. This course is the first programming course in many Brazilian universities. When I was doing my homework, I forgot to check out the no console check box, and I got the world value: 42. I wonder why the world value is forty two. Here is my program to calculate the value of the world:
/* ******************************************************************************/
/* Tick off the Show Constructors radio box */
module worldval
import StdEnv, StdIO
Start w= startIO SDI 0 edWin [ProcessClose closeProcess] w
edWin gst= gst
/***********************************************************************************/
As I told you, the value is 42.
In the book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", by Douglas Adams, a race of hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings has built a computer named Deep Thought to calculate the value of the world; the answer was revealed as 42. Was Clean team inspired by Adams' book? The Deep Thought computer that won a chess match against Kasparov was named after the Hitchhiker's computer.
