[FieldTrip] Postdoc position

Dear all,

We have an open postdoc position on intracranial EEG, sleep and epilepsy.

At the University hospital of Bern (Inselspital) and Swiss Institute for
Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine (SITEM) we are looking for a
passionate postdoc with desire to discover insights in incredibly rich
intracranial EEG datasets recorded during wake and sleep. Start of project
is in the first months of 2022 with a yearly, renewable contract.

This sleep-epilepsy project will combine software development, EEG signal
processing and machine learning skills. The candidate will be trained
conjointly by a computational group (A. Tzovara; https://neuro.inf.unibe.ch/)
and a neurologist (M. Baud) who both specialize in quantitative
neuroscience research. The candidate will mostly work on computational
problems, but, if language skills allow (German or French) will have
opportunities to interact directly with chronic epilepsy patients in the
neurology department for the acquisition of intracranial EEG recordings.
The data will consist of intracranial EEG and single-neurons recorded
directly from the human brain.

*Required qualifications*

   - A PhD and a quantitative background in any engineering field, physics,
   computer science or neuroscience
   - Interpersonal and communication skills in English (both oral and
   written)
   - Strong abilities in computer programming (Matlab and/or Python and/or
   R)
   - Experience with neural time-series and frequency analysis (EEG > fMRI,
   etc.)

*Preferred qualifications*

   - German speaking
   - Experience with single-unit recordings or intracranial EEG
   - Experience with deep-learning, machine-learning or statistical model
   development

*Your tasks over the first year*

   - Organization of retrospective icEEG data – 3 months
   - Software development and versioning – 3 months
   - Prospective data collection – ongoing
   - Data analysis EEG – single units – 6 months
   - Scientific dissemination (conferences and papers)
