Dear colleagues,
The Research Group Adaptive Memory and Decision Making (PI: Bernhard Spitzer) at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Position on the cognitive neuroscience of Working Memory (E 13 TVöD, 39 hours/week).

We are looking for candidates who are eager to investigate working memory (WM) processes using EEG, MEG, or related techniques with model-based analysis approaches. The ERC-funded project DeepStore investigates the dynamic representational nature of WM, its interplay with long-term memory, and its development over the lifespan. The position is initially for 3 years.

Applicants must hold, or expect to hold by the starting date, a doctorate in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Candidates should be experienced in designing, performing, analyzing, and disseminating experimental studies using EEG, MEG, or LFPs. A strong research interest in working memory, strong analytical and programming skills, ability to work independently, and proficiency in English are essential. Experience with multivariate (RSA, decoding) and/or spectral analyses will be beneficial. For further inquiries about the position, please contact Bernhard Spitzer (spitzer at mpib-berlin.mpg.de<mailto:spitzer at mpib-berlin.mpg.de>).

The successful candidate will join the newly established Max Planck Dahlem of Cognition (MPDCC) at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (www.mpib-berlin.mpg.de<http://berlin.mpg.de>). The institute offers an excellent infrastructure including support staff and equipment for conducting experiments (e.g., behavioral laboratory, fMRI, EEG, TMS, and Eye-tracking). It provides an international research environment, with English being the working language.

The Max Planck Society strives for gender and diversity equality. We welcome applications from all backgrounds. The Max Planck Society is further committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.

Applicants should submit a cover letter describing research interests and motivation to join our lab (max. 2 pages), curriculum vitae, 1-2 representative works (published or working papers), and two reference contacts. We kindly ask you to submit your application without a photo. Please send the materials as a single PDF file with your name as the file name to: amd-applications at mpib-berlin.mpg.de<mailto:amd-applications at mpib-berlin.mpg.de>; Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Lentzeallee 94, 14195 Berlin. In the correspondence, please use “Postdoctoral Position on Working Memory” in the subject line.

Applications should be submitted by January 15th, 2023 to ensure consideration. However, review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
