Also, https://www.fieldtriptoolbox.org/development/module/fileio/ describes the generic way in which FieldTrip handles different data formats. If your file format is not supported, and if you feel adventurous, feel free to contribute the low-level functionality as described on the mentioned page, as a PR on github.

In particular, we have electrodermal activity (EDA) and EMG data recorded with the Nexus 32 Amplifier and Biotrace+ software (.txt file). Because we could not find the .txt format in the tutorial: Which kind of other data formats could be imported into the FieldTrip Toolbox?
