[FieldTrip] channel names change during BIDS conversion

Hi all,

I have data acquired with BCI2000 and gtec amplifiers and am trying to convert to iEEG BIDS specification.
The header information about channels is sometimes incomplete or incorrect and I would like to change channel names and types.
When I provide names in the cfg.channels.name field of the data2bids function, the channels_tsv and json outputs are incorrect because data2bids seems to be reading from the *.dat file hdr and merging channels that are named differently with the hdr channels.

What is the best way to change channel names during the BIDS conversion process for subjects who are recorded with channel modifications that are not reflected in the data header?
