[FieldTrip] What's maxfilter when read .fif file

Dear all:
I use the ''ft_read_data'' code read .fif file by fieldtrip
I get the following error message:
''Maxshield data has not had maxfilter applied to it - cannot be read by
fieldtrip.  Apply Neuromag maxfilter before converting to fieldtrip
format.''

What should I do or Is there some Matlab codes to read .fif file ?
