Hi Emilio,
Using ft_freqstatistics is very possible. Indeed you will not be able to use clustering for multiple comparison correction. In fact, having reduced the number of comparisons to 8 already almost gets rid of the multiple comparison problem. You can use a nonparametric permutation test without a cluster-based test statistic, and do a bonferroni correction on the p-values.
