[FieldTrip] question regarding baseline correction

Dear fieldtrip community,

can any one suggest/recommend me which is the best way to compute
baseline correction over time-frequency data:

1) first baseline correction over each single trial and then
averaging across trials?

2) first averaging across trials and then baseline correction?

Any help would as always be greatly appreciated!
