Post-doctoral researcher to develop adaptive brain-computer interfaces

The Measuring and Modelling Electromagnetic Brain Activity at the F.C.
Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging at Radboud University Nijmegen
(NL) seeks an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to investigate
adaptive brain computer interfaces. The researcher will develop and
apply methods being used for brain-computer interfaces. The goal is to
develop interfaces that online adapt to the state of the subject
characterized by the measured brain activity. The tools to be applied
are EEG (128 BrainProducts system) and/or MEG (275 sensor CTF system)
which are available at the F.C. Donders Centre. Experience with EEG/MEG
data acquisition/analysis and MATLAB programming are of added value.
The research project is part of the BrainGain project (www.braingain.nu).
We encourage applicants to apply with a signal processing, cognitive
psychology or physiology background, but also applicants from other
disciplines if they want to contribute to an interdisciplinary research
project centered on functional neuroimaging in humans. Backgrounds of
interest include cognitive neuroscience, electrophysiology, neurology,
computational neuroscience and machine learning.
The mission of the F.C. Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuro-imaging
(FCDC) is to conduct cutting-edge fundamental and applied research in
cognitive neuroscience (i.e. human and animal cognition, as viewed from
the perspective of the brain). The FCDC houses a 275-channel MEG system,
TMS, high-density EEG , 1.5T, 3T and 7T MRI systems.
Much of the rapid progress in this field is being driven by the
development of complex neuro-imaging techniques for measuring activity
in the human brain -- an area in which the FCDC plays a leading role.
The research themes of the FCDC cover central cognitive functions, such
as perception, action, attention, memory, language, learning and
plasticity. The aim is to unravel these complex cognitive functions and
discover how they are represented in the brain. This is done by
identifying the networks of brain areas that are vital to each of these

Maximum employment: 1,0
Maximum salary per month, based on fulltime employment: Euro 4.284,-
Salary scale: 11
Duration of contract: One year, with the possibility of extension for
two more years.
