What's the function of the 2 variable named  outline *** in the lay struct for EEG TD and TF cluster based permutation? And how does the data in the two variables correlate to the functions of cluster based permutation?

To perform a cluster based permutation on tf data,  I adapted a lay struct for my own analysis, which has 63 electrodes, from one made by my colleague, which then has 62 electrodes.  I changed the labels and orders of the electrodes,  calculated and added one positions,  reordered the positions  and added one row respectively in the weight and height.  However it still reported errors.  So is there something wrong with the outline variables?

If you want to do a cluster-based permutation test on the full sensor array, you need to define the layout of the electrodes for the test to know which electrodes are close to one another for the clustering. This will indeed vary from layout to layout. FieldTrip comes with templates for many standard layouts from different EEG cap manufacturers. If you use your own cap layout (or one not in FieldTrip), you need to create the “neighbours” structure first before you can do the cluster-based test. To whom it may concern,

 

When conducting cluster based permutation of ERP time-frequency data using fielrdtrip function "ft_freqstatistics",

a mat file containing a variable which then contains infomation of positions of electrodes is required. 

How could this file (or, this kind of files, based on different EEG caps) accessed online?

Also, how should this file be changed if data of some electrodes are removed (not interpolated)?
