Dear all,
We invite applications for a PhD position at the Institute for Biomagnetism and Biosignalanalysis, IBB, University Hospital Münster (head: Prof. Joachim Gross).
The project Tracking hemispheric asymmetry across the lifespan: resting‑state dynamics, neurochemical substrates, and behavioral relevance uses MEG and EEG to study functional hemispheric asymmetries across adulthood, and relates asymmetry dynamics to cognition, lifestyle, and affective symptom trajectories (depression, bipolar disorder).
Applicants should hold a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a related discipline with a strong academic record.
Preferred skills:
-Strong interest in basic and applied neuroscience, especially functional brain organization and clinical disorders
-Ideally, experience with MEG and/or EEG
-Programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, or R) and a solid background in empirical methods and statistics
-Very good English skills; German is an advantage or willingness to learn.
-High level of motivation, reliability, independence, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teamwork.
The candidate will join an experienced and collaborative team with strong expertise in MEG/EEG imaging, lifespan research, and patient studies, including weekly institute colloquia, mentoring, and methods‑oriented workshops. The position offers excellent opportunities for scientific qualification (PhD) in a dynamic, internationally connected environment in Münster, a city with a very high quality of life.
