Applications are invited for a motivated and self-driven postdoctoral
researcher to work on the development of novel early biomarkers of
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This research, undertaken at the
Discipline of Physiology in Trinity College Dublin involves using
electroencephalography (EEG) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
with electromyography (EMG) to measure changes in cognitive and motor
network function in individuals at elevated risk of developing ALS.
Specifically, a suite of measures, previously determined to differ between
those with and without ALS, will be examined in a cohort of individuals who
carry genes associated with ALS, who are therefore at increased risk of
developing ALS in future. The researcher will work as part of the team of a
young, multidisciplinary team led by Dr McMackin, with collaborators from
the University Medical Centre Utrecht. Teaching opportunities,
opportunities to contribute as co-author to additional projects and
involvement in novel funding applications can also be offered if of
interest to the successful candidate.

The position will start at the earliest date suitable for the successful
candidate, not later than April 2026. Prior experience collecting and
analysing electrophysiology and/or neuroimaging data is essential.
