Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Developmental Neuroscience
Florida International University

The Child Anxiety and Phobia Program (CAPP<http://capp.fiu.edu/>), along with the Neural Dynamics of Control Laboratory (NDCLab<http://www.ndclab.com/>), both housed within Florida International University’s Center for Children and Families (CCF)<https://ccf.fiu.edu/> and Department of Psychology<https://psychology.fiu.edu/> is seeking a talented postdoctoral scholar with prior expertise in EEG and an interest in conducting cutting-edge research at the intersection of clinical psychology and developmental neuroscience. The primary focus of this position is to collaborate on an ongoing, multi-site Randomized Controlled Trial assessing attention bias modification training as a treatment for pediatric social anxiety, with a focus on EEG markers of attention and cognitive control as the key targets. This NIMH-funded study reflects a direct collaboration between FIU and Yale University. Located within an international, multicultural urban setting, the Center for Children and Families, a Preeminent Program at FIU, and the Department of Psychology, ranked 4th in the country for research funding, offer a stimulating research environment full of collaborative and networking opportunities.

The position involves implementing high-density EEG, eye-tracking, managing data collection, analysis, and preparing manuscripts. Prior expertise in EEG data collection and ERP-based analyses are a requirement for this position. However, experience implementing EEG in the context of clinical/developmental research is not a requirement, although preference will be given to candidates with a background in these areas. Similarly, prior experience in programming (MATLAB, R, and/or Python) is strongly preferred but is not a requirement for this position. Opportunities to engage, or train, in time-frequency and/or source localization EEG methods are also readily available as part of this position.
The candidate will be mentored in leading independent research projects including grant applications and publishing with a highly productive research team. The close partnership and integration between the FIU and Yale sites allow for unique opportunities for professional development and interdisciplinary training. The breadth of training experiences will be useful for a variety of academic career paths. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in a relevant domain of Psychology (Developmental, Clinical, or Social Psychology, for instance), Neuroscience, or related field by the time the position begins (although strong applicants who are ABD, but close to defense may be considered). The position is currently open and the initial position duration is for at least 2 years. Please contact Dr. Jeremy Pettit at jpettit at fiu.edu<mailto:jpettit at fiu.edu> and Dr. George Buzzell at gbuzzell at fiu.edu<mailto:besuther at fiu.edu> and include a CV and names of references in the cover letter.
