Dear colleagues,
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join our team at the
Department of Psychology, LMU Munich, Germany.
The research of our group focuses on the neural mechanisms of memory and
navigation in humans, using a multimodal approach with an emphasis on
invasive and non-invasive electrophysiology.
See below for more information.

Thanks!

*Postdoctoral Position (m/f/x)*

Institution: Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Department of
Psychology, LMU Munich, Germany
Hiring date: April 1st, 2022 (later starting dates are negotiable)
Application deadline: January 31, 2022
Pay category: Tvl, , E13, 100 %
Contract term: 2 years (with option to extend)

Apply for a Postdoc position with us!
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to work on
the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant project “How the human
thalamus guides navigation and memory: a common coding framework built on
direct thalamic recordings” (DirectThalamus), awarded to Prof. Dr. Tobias
Staudigl, Cognitive Neuropsychology, at the Ludwig-Maximilans University
(LMU) Munich, Germany.

The project investigates the neuronal basis of memory and spatial
navigation processes, with a focus on the contribution of subcortical brain
regions. The successful applicant will work in a multi-disciplinary
environment on a project that aims at understanding the
electrophysiological basis of human memory. The project comprises research
in clinical as well as healthy populations.

Your responsibilities:
- conduct research (including data acquisition, analyses and
interpretation) in the context of memory and navigation
- prepare and participate in project-based publications
- participate in and present research at national and international
conferences and workshops
- participate in teaching and (co-)supervising students
- support and help organize project-based events and activities
- participate in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:
- a PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or
related fields
- fluent in written and spoken English, fluent in spoken German (or
willingness to reach a comparable level of German language skills)
- experience in recording, analyzing and interpreting electrophysiological
data (MEG, EEG, or intracranial EEG) and in conducting experiments with
human participants
- proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, R); experience
with advanced multivariate analyses (e.g., pattern classifiers, RSA) and
the Fieldtrip toolbox is desirable, experience with eye- and/or motion
tracking is a plus
- strong publication record
- interest in teaching and (co-)supervising students
- willingness to participate in grant applications
- enthusiasm for fundamental research

The successful candidate will have expertise in the acquisition and
analyses of electrophysiological (EEG, MEG, or intracranial EEG) . A
background in memory research is highly desirable, as well as prior
experience in conducting experiments with human participants. The candidate
should be a highly motivated researcher who is enthusiastic about
fundamental memory research and willing to actively participate in
scientific exchange in a multidisciplinary work environment as well as the
national and international research community. The successful candidate is
expected to participate in teaching and (co)-supervision of master and
doctoral students. Since the project involves research with patients in a
clinical setting, knowledge of German is highly desirable.
Applicants with disabilities who possess essentially equal qualifications
will be given preference. LMU Munich is an equal opportunity employer
committed to excellence through diversity, and therefore explicitly
encourages women to apply. Your workplace is in a central location in
Munich and is very easy to reach by public transport. We offer an
interesting and responsible job with good training and development
opportunities. Part-time employment is possible. The Ludwig Maximilians
University Munich (LMU) is one of the most renowned and largest
universities in Germany.
