The National Institute of Mental Health MEG Core Facility in Bethesda, MD USA is currently recruiting for a post-doctoral researcher. This position may also be advertised at a staff level for interested persons not eligible for a post-doctoral position.

The selected candidate will participate in an NIH Brain Initiative funded project to develop a novel optically pumped magnetometer (OPM) system capable of mapping a portion of the cortex at millimeter scale resolution as a non-invasive alternative to intracranial electroencephalography. The Post-Doctoral fellow will be under the supervision and mentoring of Dr. Allison Nugent, MEG Core Facility Director, and Dr. Stephen Robinson. The selected candidate will be integral to the construction and calibration of the system, as well the application of the system to clinical populations.

Candidates should have obtained a PhD in physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related fields. Programming skills are essential. Direct experience with OPM sensors is desirable but not required, although successful candidates should have experience with some form of biomedical sensor instrumentation and/or electronics. Experience with acquisition and data analysis for MEG or other electrophysiological techniques is desirable. Excellent written and spoken communication skills and fluency in English are required.
