[FieldTrip] how gamma power is calculated

  Does anyone in the Fieldtrip community calculate the "running gamma
power"?  This is what I call the parameter after doing a power analysis on
each trial, and then to simplify the data by one dimension, averaging the
bins within the 35-45 Hz or 30-94 Hz band.

Coincidentally a plot of the running gamma power resembles a plot of the
EEG first derivative (absolute value of).  Can anyone explain why?
