with overloaded, I mean that there are more functions with the same name. isfield is a built-in matlab function, and it typically does not return an error with a specified line (which is opposed to what was suggested by your pasted error message).

<div>I think the best way forward, would be to change into the directory of your downloaded fieldtrip version, and then try ft_defaults, after you have typed restoredefaultpath.</div>

The error message you pasted is incomplete it seems, so it is not clear from a distance what went wrong. Do you by any chance have an overloaded version of an isfield.m function on your matlab path?<br>
