<p class="MsoNormal">Applications are sought for a fully-funded PhD position to work with Dr Simon Hanslmayr (University of Birmingham, School of Psychology,
<a href="http://www.memorybham.com/people/#/simon-hanslmayr/">http://www.memorybham.com/people/#/simon-hanslmayr/</a>). The project is focussed on generating computational models to simulate single-neuron responses and neural oscillations in the service of
 memory processes. The work will build on a theoretical framework, termed the <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4819444/">
Synch/deSync Model</a> which assumes that memory processes are implemented via cortical desynchronization and hippocampal synchronization processes (see
<a href="http://www.jneurosci.org/content/38/14/3428.long">Parish et al., 2018</a>). The PhD student will have the opportunity to work with single-unit and EEG data recorded from the human hippocampus in patients suffering from epilepsy. The candidate should
