These technologies are providing a new way for human interaction and collaboration never seeing before. Therefore, social networks analysis area has arisen as a way to understand and enhance these communities and networks of people. This invited session on "Social Networks" focuses on the foundations of social networks as well as case studies, empirical, and other methodological works related to the computational tools for the automatic discovery of Web-based social networks.
